House of Smalls -Series: FFS

I’m delighted to share that my work was recently shown in Edinburgh. Exhibiting in Scotland feels especially meaningful, as part of my practice explores my family heritage home by the sea. Showing this work in such a vibrant cultural setting has been both grounding and inspiring, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to connect with new audiences.

Fabric and Feminism Series: FFS, Transparent Layers
Textiles — indigo, Leno hand weave | 95cm wide |

This piece explores the complexities of female experience, vulnerability, and societal expectation through textiles and photography. Using an early lace-making technique, raw cotton conveys emotional rawness while indigo-dyed yarn reflects the duality of tradition and harm.

In the accompanying photographs, nude models first used the fabric to conceal themselves, then gradually embraced it with freedom — a powerful metaphor for moving from shame to strength. FFS, Transparent Layers stands as both a personal catharsis and a wider challenge to harmful narratives that demand women cover themselves to be safe.

Currently exhibited at The House of Smalls, the work has an estimated value of £4,000 (not for sale), with postcards available through the gallery.
